Mind Set Art Center is honored to take part in 2019 Art Fair Philippines from 2019 February 22nd to February 24th. We will also present a special project: Gravity and Grace by Shinji OHMAKI from February 19th to March 13th. We cordially invite you to the event.

This early spring, in the collaboration with AyalaLand, Mind Set Art Center is going to present Shinji OHMAKI’s classic work, Gravity and Grace, and shine the refreshing light at the start of the art week in Philippines. Gravity and Grace is cited from Simone Weil’s famous work La Pesanteur et la grâce. Ohmaki thought about the privileged intelligence and ability and the actions and responsibility that came along with such grace. The work opened up an endless conversation along the stream of time, inviting audience to think back the history of human civilization.

Besides Ohmaki’s magnificent installation, Mind Set Art Center will be presenting works from local artist Marina CRUZ, Victor BALANON Patricia Perez EUSTAQUIO and Lee Paje, Romania artist Ana Maria MICU and Taiwanese artists Juin SHIEH, SHI Jin-Hua, LIN Wei-Hsiang, LIU Chi-Hung and CHUNG Shun-Wen to the audience at Art Fair Philippines. With the diverse presentation, we hope to spark creative perspectives among the artists at the exciting South East Asian art market. Starting from observing common objects of everyday life, the artists dived into the depth of the details with their paint brushes and pencils and began the philosophical thinking about the relationship among objects, emotions and life. The art work of Pilipino artist Marina Cruz walked through the heart-touching family history via the depiction of the textures of old clothes. The rich color and the vivid tear in the fabric have brought out the joy and sorrow of the women in this family. Focusing on interior scenes, Ana Maria Micu translated the reality via her paintings. The picture within a picture has extended her observation of the skin-deep surface to the mediation of her inner self, down in the memory lane of sentiment. As for Taiwanese artist Shi Jin-Hua, his iconic work Pen Walking has turned the pencil into a living walker walking his or her life on a paper with the assistance from the artist. The trace of karma was left on the paper and has inspired the in-depth reflection toward reincarnation.
