Mind Set Art Center is pleased to present a dual exhibition by Rao FU and TANG Jo-Hung at Taipei Dangdai. The art fair will hold its preview Thursday, 17 January and open to the public from 18 to 20 January.

The art works of Rao FU and TANG Jo-Hung are embedded with the conversation of the East and the West and the communication between the traditional and the contemporary. Their creations also project the Western artistic influence they gained from their education in Europe. Originated from their inner self, their paintings present a set of unique visual imaginations. Every stroke on the canvas is full of tension and motion, rendering a unique scene and space which subtly corresponds to the transformation of the contemporary human minds.

Rao FU, a Germany-based Chinese artist inherited with Chinese ink painting training, is fascinated by the layers of colors and the atmosphere of Germen Romanticism. He often practices his art via splashing or point dying of bitumen on the paper surface to render the ink wash charms that are reminiscent of ink paintings. The mixture of narrative scenes has created an ambiguous and strange atmosphere, inviting viewers to the fantastic tour of minds.

As a city wanderer, TANG Jo-Hung speaks to the world from a distant perspective. His paintings are embedded with powerful visual tension and in-depth metaphor. With elaborate color arrangement and recklessly smooth strokes, his artistic practice returns to the purity of the visual language. The daily images in his paintings highlight the situations that are too bizarre to be categorized and forge inside jokes with extremely personal connotations.
