蓋兒・文森特 Philippines, b. 1984

Gail Vicente creates installations, drawings, and paintings that consider existence, conflict, pattern, transition, and the textures of everyday life. Domestic objects such as rugs, clothing, blankets, and lights anchor works concerned with home, comfort, and rest. Material choices carry pragmatic and metaphorical weight; text and found objects are interwoven so that material and language generate meaning together. Since 2008 her work has been presented in alternative spaces and galleries across Manila. She has been involved with The Chabet Archive since 2007 and serves as archivist for the nonprofit King Kong Art Projects Unlimited. In 2019 she received support from the Asian Cultural Council for research in New York City on artist archives and the conservation of contemporary art. She is a founding member of Project 20, an artist-run initiative based in Manila, and since 2020 has developed a tactile poetics shaped by daily life in Baguio.
