CHOU Kai-Lun Taiwan, b. 1996

Born in 1996, CHOU Kai-Lun earned his MFA from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan University of the Arts in 2023. Primarily working within the mediums of painting and photography, Chou frequently utilizes photographic sources and methodologies to develop his paintings. By navigating the fluid boundaries between these two disciplines, he explores new possibilities while engaging in a profound inquiry into the relationship between contemporary visual imagery and the tradition of painting. Living in an era characterized by fragmentation, Chou constructs a sense of wholeness through isolated visual fragments. By transforming photographs rooted in conscious perception and interweaving them with depictions of "nature" as it appears in digital spaces, his work maps the contours of the spirit and reflects the distinct existential state of the younger generation. In 2023, his oil painting Untitled received the Best Selected Award at the 5th ONE ART Award. More recently, in 2025, he was shortlisted for the 3rd CTBC Contemporary Painting Award.
